Adkins was working on his property building a gravel road when the small tractor he was driving toppled over when a portion of the road gave way. Though trapped underneath the tractor, he was able to reach his cell phone and call for help.

He was taken to a Williamson County hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. “Trace sustained a crush injury to his chest and a rib-sternum separation,” Dr. Craig Farrell said. “He also has bruises to his shoulder and pelvis.

“He is alert and stable, but still under observation to rule out an associated cardiac contusion.”

The singer is no stranger to injuries. Some of the near-fatal accidents he’s survived include a bullet through the heart and lungs; a nose reattachment following a car accident; a severed finger tip while working on an oil drilling rig; and the usual injuries that go along with being a former football player.

His insurance company must love him.

Adkins looks to pick up his tour plans starting October 17 in Florence, S.C.
