In addition to the free shows, Staind will be making a same-day in-store appearance in each city where they are performing. A number of tickets for the evening shows will be given away to fans who pre-purchase the CD at the in-store shows. Additional tickets will be available through giveaways via the band’s Web site, local radio stations and retail outlets.

As with most major tour announcements, Staind’s comes in anticipation of their new album, 14 Shades of Grey, which hits shelves May 20. The disc follows the band’s hugely popular 2001 album, Break The Cycle, which featured one of the year’s most-played singles, “It’s Been Awhile.”

The new album sports a limited edition bonus DVD disc featuring footage from the band from the early years to the present, along with album lyrics and new photos.

Fans can expect to hear some new material from 14 Shades Of Gray at the free shows, along with some older material.

A full-blown tour is expected to follow with a few shows already announced.
