The moral of the story is this: Juanes has potential to once again sell out venues in the U.S.

The heartthrob is taking to theatres from May 7 through July. He’ll hit major markets, as well as out-of-the-way ones including Ledyard (Conn.), McAllen (Texas), Englewood (Colo.), and even Fresno (Calif.).

This marks Juanes’ second round of U.S. shows in support of his hit sophomore album, Un Dia Normal.

As fans of Latin rock will know, Juanes first tasted fame with the rock en Español band Ekhymosis. After the group disbanded in 1998, he struck out on his own and forged a solo career.

Juanes’ debut album, Fijate Bien, was an eclectic blend of salsa, funk, rock ‘n’ roll, and vallenato (traditional Colombian folk music), and won him three Latin Grammy Awards out of an impressive seven nominations.

He also won an award the following year for the song “A Dios Le Pido” from Un Dia Normal.
