North America Feels The Full Effect
Supporting acts for the tour constitute a veritable emo-core showcase: Midtown and A Static Lullaby support July 11-29, Motion City Soundtrack July 15-29, My Chemical Romance August 12 – September 2, Senses Fail August 12-20, and Moneen August 22 – September 2.
Although Reggie & The Full Effect’s history is swathed in legends involving a missing bluesman, a studio fire, and mysterious boxes of tapes dropped at the doorsteps of certain indie labels, the real man behind the myth is one Jim Dewees, keyboardist for the Get Up Kids and former Coalesce drummer.
Sometime in the late ‘90s, Dewees began spending his spare time in his Kansas City studio creating whimsical, melodic pop songs that drew from his hardcore and emo roots but added synth-pop flourishes and a quirky sense of humor.
Since then, he’s put out three albums under the Reggie & The Full Effect moniker, usually playing all the instruments himself. His latest, Under The Tray, was released earlier this year.
On previous tours, Dewees has utilized various friends and labelmates as backing bands, including the Get Up Kids and Ultimate Fakebook.
Lips are still tight regarding backup for this year’s excursion.
