The band started off the year on tour with Something Corporate, Juliana Theory, and Vendetta Red. After a stint opening for Paul Weller on the East Coast, they headlined clubs across the nation and played gigs with Lifehouse and the Samples.

They’ve also found time for a slew of TV appearances and a performance at Austin’s South by Southwest festival. According to their record company, they plan to actively tour the States throughout the year.

Although Fiction Plane tries to keep its familial lineage under wraps, the word has been out for a while that lead singer/songwriter Joe Sumner is the son of none other than ex-Police singer and solo megastar Sting.

Their optimistically titled MCA debut, Everything Will Never Be OK, was released in March and has received a good deal of buzz. While the band’s famous bloodline can’t have hurt, much praise centers around the fact that Sumner doesn’t sound like his famous dad; comparisons to U2 and Nirvana are more common.
