This time, Porcupine Tree from the U.K. are joining the Swedish rockers on a tour that launches July 15 in Toronto. The outing swings through the States to wrap August 3 in Seattle.

Considering Opeth’s latest album, Damnation, was produced, mixed and co-written by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, this tour makes even more sense. Wilson also contributed both keyboards and guest vocals on the album.

The more “mello-tron” sounding disc is a departure from Opeth’s typical heavy-hitting sound, like that found on their smash hit album Deliverance.

Opeth finished up a tour with Paradise Lost – another English metal group – in February. The outing saw the two bands, joined by Tapping The Vein, selling out nearly all their shows.

Speaking of selling out, Porcupine Tree just completed a European headline tour, which saw every venue packed to the gills. The band has been touring behind their latest album In Absentia. Prior to linking up with Opeth, they’ll have a few dates of their own around the U.S.
