They’re warming up a bit in their native Georgia, with a couple shows including a slot at Athfest at Athens’ 40 Watt Club, before officially kicking off the tour June 10 in Atlanta.

The steady-rockin’ Hymns will have but one day off over the next three weeks, pausing only on July 29 before wrapping August 1 back home in Athens.

Clemency, the band’s third full-length, is scheduled for release on July 1 on Misra Records. However, eager fans can order the album already through the label’s Web site.

The band decided to forgo their usual recording process for their latest effort. While their first two albums were recorded over months or even years in a home studio, this time the band opted to travel to Nashville with seasoned indie engineer Mark Nevers (of Lambchop), and completed the entire album in a week.

Labelmates (of Centro-matic) and Chris Lee will join the Hymns on most dates.
