They’re currently scheduled to continue across the continent through July 23, when they’ll play San Diego’s Casbah in the last of three supporting shows for the Raveonettes.

Formed in 2000 under the direction of guitarist Henrik Bjornsson, Singapore Sling have spent the last couple years steadily building their reputation at home and abroad. In addition to Bjornsson, the band includes guitarists Helgi Petursson and Einar Kristjansson, maraca player Siggi Shaker, bassist Toggi Guðmundsson, and drummer Bjarni Johannsson.

U.S. audiences got their first taste of the sextet’s gritty art-rock this spring when the band played a few New York shows and made an appearance at Austin’s South By Southwest conference.

Their debut album, The Curse Of Singapore Sling, was released in June on Stinky Records. Their brooding, intense tunes have garnered comparisons to the Velvet Underground, Jesus & Mary Chain, and Suicide.
