Thornton is expected to perform songs from the album – also named Edge Of The World – along with tunes from his debut, Private Radio. Fans on the West Coast will get first crack at his new material as the disc isn’t expected to be released until sometime in August.

Although he is best known for roles in movies like “The Man Who Wasn’t There,” “Monster’s Ball” and “Sling Blade,” and formerly as Angelina Jolie’s husband, Thornton used to earn a living as a drummer. During his early music days, he opened for artists like Hank Williams Jr., Ted Nugent, Richie Havens, and Humble Pie.

More recently, Thornton toured alongside Elvis Costello last June and also headlined his own outing that spring – his first official tour.
