Following the departure of original member Michie Nakatani, the group shuffled instruments a bit and added Nishiura on the skins for their last tour.

The Candy Rock tour kicks off with five California shows starting October 8 in San Jose, and will continue across the country, hitting Canada for two dates before wrapping at Detroit’s Magic Stick on Halloween.

Shonen Knife formed in 1981 in Osaka, Japan, when the Yamanos and fellow office clerk Nakatani decided they needed a distraction from desk life. They spent the next decade building a fervent international following, eventually taking to the road with Nirvana in 1991 and subsequently signing with Capitol.

After a few major label albums, the girls moved back to the indie world and have released a steady stream of recordings from the late ‘90s into the new century. Candy Rock, the tour’s namesake, was released earlier this year in Japan.
