Some highlights on The Shins’ tour itinerary, which starts August 29, include a stop at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle; a two-night stand at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City; a slot at Magnet magazine’s 10th anniversary show; and a performance at the second Austin City Limits Festival.

Additional dates are on the way. According to a post on the band’s Web site, they “hope to tour overseas before year’s end.” But all that’s still being worked out.

Speaking of being worked out, The Shins have been in the studio working on the follow-up to their surprise hit debut, Oh, Inverted World. The new album, said to be titled Chutes Too Narrow, is expected to hit shelves sometime around the end October.

For those of you who can’t wait to get their grubby little hands on The Shins’ new album, you can check out their Web site where, you’ll be delighted to find, the band has both a video and a short film available for your viewing pleasure. That’s at darkcoupon.com.
