Smooth As Glass
Chicago supergroup The Sea & Cake have netted a three-week-long tour of the Southern states starting mid-September, with a whopping four shows in Florida as part of the fun.
The tour comes in support of the band’s latest album, Glass. Although recorded just after this year’s One Bedroom, Glass isn’t exactly an extension of its predecessor; in fact, it marks a new musical direction for The Sea & Cake.
At seven tracks, the disc is longer than an EP, but perhaps not quite a full-length album. Just the same, Sea & Cake have packed in four new songs and three remixes by Stereolab, Broadcast, and Carl Craig. It promises to be “a surprise for those who think they have come to know what to expect from The Sea & Cake.”
Glass also features a video by Richard McGuire, former bassist of Liquid Liquid. The video is an animated illustration of the group’s cover of David Bowie’s “Sound And Vision.”
