East Coast Blackout
As happened Thursday, the day the lights went out, Friday’s concerts have been either postponed or canceled.
Iggy Pop & The Stooges were due for a reunion concert in their hometown of Detroit on the 14th, but the show has been postponed until the 25th, at the same venue (DTE Energy Music Theatre).
At first Bob Dylan‘s show at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on the 14th was postponed until the next evening. But it now looks like it’s not going to happen until next week.
Foreigner‘s set in Rye, N.Y., was called off. No word if that will be rescheduled yet.
The KISS/Aerosmith spectacle was scheduled for Detroit tonight, but has been postponed, with a possible announcement next week.
Even through the cancellations and postponements, some shows went on. Jo Dee Messina, who was set to play the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, N.Y., opted for an impromptu acoustic set in the lobby. However, the fire marshal shut the show down after about 30 minutes.
The Indigo Girls’ gig at Central Park Summer stage went ahead, aided by portable generators.
