Guitar monsters Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen are wielding axes for this year’s G3 Tour. Initial dates have the trio in the West Coast starting October 9. More shows are expected to be added to the schedule.

As with previous G3 tours, special guest guitarists will be invited to join the jam at selected dates.

“It’s always great to get out and play with Steve (Vai) and adding Yngwie (Malmsteen) to this year’s tour will definitely kick our jam sessions up a notch or two,” Satriani said. “I’m looking forward to hitting the road!”

Vai is no stranger to the G3 road. He’s been on every U.S. G3 tour, starting with the first one in 1996. Other guitarists on the G3 train have included Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Fripp, Michael Schenker and John Petrucci.
