A couple of pre-tour gigs are also on the books. A couple at the beginning of September are solo shows, sans band. He also has a slot on the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Several two-night engagements are lined up for Day’s autumn outing. New York City, Philadelphia, Boulder and Hollywood all nab the guitar-totin’ singer for a couple shows.

This tour marks Day’s first big road venture since earlier this year when he supported Tori Amos. In the between time, he’s been working on a follow-up to his acclaimed debut, Australia.

Set for release October 7, Day’s sophomore disc, Stop All The World Now, is an 11-song collection, recorded in London with Jay Clifford of Jump, Little Children, former Verve bassist Simon Jones, Les Hall and Laurie Jenkins.

Incidentally, Jump, Little Children are opening a good chunk of Day’s shows. Most tickets for the tour are already on sale.
