In addition to Waits, other artists from around the world including Philip Glass, the Buddhist Monks from the Gyuto Tantric Choir, Kronos Quartet, and Anoushka Shankar will perform.

Glass and , who are the event organizers, will host the evening. Also on hand is the Dalai Lama, who just happens to be in New York City at the same time. He will give a special address.

“The Healing The Divide grew out of a conversation between Richard Gere and myself that began over a year ago,” Glass said. “We wanted to find musical expression in the form of a concert for the desire felt by so many people, to turn away from the political and social strategies of violence, hate and division that was making our shared world such an unhappy and dangerous place to live.”

Tickets are available at healingthedivide.org and range from $35-$75. Special patron tickets are also available for $250.
