Putting Rock On The Map
They keep together through the start of November when Godsmack split off to join Metallica overseas.
Godsmack have a new disc coming out. The eight-song acoustic album, The Other Side, drops November 18 and finds the band taking a new musical direction.
Lead singer Sully Erna told VH1 “it kind of has a Temple Of The Dog vibe,” referring to the ‘90s collaboration between members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.
“I wanted to do an acoustic record because we’ve never wanted to put a ceiling on ourselves. We always want to have a different vein to pursue and try different things and not limit ourselves to just being a heavy rock band.
“I think people are really going to be surprised.”
Godsmack seem to be striving to surprise people in more ways than one. Earlier this year, they ditched the summer package tour scene because they felt ticket prices were too high for kids, and instead did things on their own, touring with Cold and Breaking Benjamin before heading to Europe.
Adema haven’t exactly been slackers this touring season either. The band just wrapped a U.S. trek with Powerman 5000 and a European tour with Linkin Park.
