Pinback Attack
Prolific West Coast musicians Armistead Burwell Smith IV and Rob Crow are all over the map these days, with enough side projects and collaborations to make Jim O’Rourke peer over his shoulder. However, their primary machine is still indie pop outfit Pinback, and they’ll hit the road with that assemblage this spring on a cross-country tour.
They’ll get warmed up with a March 19 gig at Anaheim, Calif.’s House of Blues. By April, they’ll be going strong, rolling across the nation and back with American Analog Set and Enon supporting on selected dates. The tour wraps at home in Southern California with an April 29 performance La Jolla’s Porters Pub.
Bay Area label Absolutely Kosher released the EP Off Cell in June. Touch and Go Records released the European version, and will also release the band’s new full-length this August.
Pinback has its ancestry in Smith’s former band 3 Mile Pilot and Crow’s Heavy Vegetable. Crow’s many current distractions include Absolutely Kosher projects My Band Is A Mess, Thingy, Optiganally Yours, and Goblin Cock.
