U.S. Is Next For Byrne
David Byrne has announced he will follow his ongoing European tour with a North American outing, set to begin in May. The former Talking Head is currently making his way across the Continent, though he’ll return briefly to the States for an April 17 concert with Brazilian superstar Caetano Veloso at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The European shows run through May 5, with the North American leg starting a week later in Buffalo, N.Y. Dates announced so far cover mostly the East Coast, although the tour looks to begin creeping westward in mid-June. More cities and dates are to be announced, so it’s a safe bet he’ll be covering most corners of the country.
The tour coincides with the March 16 release of Byrne’s latest record, Grown Backwards, which features collaborations with Rufus Wainwright and the Carla Bley Band. The album is his first since 2001’s Look Into The Eyeball, not counting last year’s Lead Us Not Into Temptation: Music From The Film “Young Adam,” which he conceived and recorded with Belle & Sebastian and Mogwai.
