Cardigans Are Back
In these cautious times, when music is increasingly seen as a potential threat, bands like The Cardigans have trouble even getting their CDs across U.S. borders.
Patience pays off, though, and the Swedish popsters are coming in May for their first North American tour in five years.
The jaunt begins May 8 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, N.J., and stretches through the end of the month, wrapping on the opposite coast May 25 at West Hollywood’s Troubadour. That same day, their new album gets a long-awaited North American release on KOCH Records.
Long Gone Before Daylight is the band’s first studio release since 1998’s Gran Turismo. It’s been out for a full year in their native country, where it recently won album of the year at the Swedish Grammy Awards. The group also picked up an award for rock group of the year.
