The band is doing a string of U.K. dates that will carry them into early May. After a quick break, they’ll launch their North American tour May 13 at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia, Pa.

They’ll continue across the continent over the next month until wrapping with two shows at The Talking Head in Baltimore June 12-13.

Trans Am recently released its seventh full-length album, Liberation, on longtime label Thrill Jockey. The group sought to capture the current atmosphere of their hometown of Washington, D.C., on the record, which is their first to contain overt political statements.

A press release for the album reads, “Today, on a normal commute through D.C., one is likely to encounter a Humvee on the side of the road – not a workout guru’s Hummer, but the real thing with mounted machine guns, surrounded by desert camouflage. New York’s skyline is the most radically altered in the past three years, but life in Washington is palpably different.”
