Black Sabbath To Headline Ozzfest
Black Sabbath has been announced as the headliner of Ozzfest 2004. The band, comprising original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler with current Ozzy solo drummer Mike Bordin, will play its first shows since 2001 when the metalfest kicks off this summer.
Black Box: The Complete Original Black Sabbath (1970-1978), which includes the band’s first eight albums plus a DVD, was released in April.
The main stage will also feature Judas Priest (with original singer Rob Halford), Slayer, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, Dimmu Borgir, and Superjoint Ritual.
Despite being one of the festival’s biggest names, alt-metal psychos Slipknot are scheduled to play on the second stage so they can have a mosh pit. Pits are prohibited on the main stage. Hatebreed, Lamb Of God, Atreyu and more will also appear on stage two.
Dates run from July 10 in Hartford, Conn., to September 4, when West Palm Beach, Fla., hosts the grand finale.
