The Hives – singer Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, drummer Chris Dangerous, bassist Dr. Matt Destruction, guitarist Nicholaus Arson and guitarist Vigilante Carlstroem – are hitting the European festival circuit through June. They’ll give U.S. fans an early taste June 12, when they make a quick trip to Irvine, Calif., for the KROQ Weenie Roast.

They’ll do a few more Euro dates before kicking off their U.S. tour July 20 at Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club. Along with their two support acts, they’ll traverse the country for several weeks, concluding the trip August 4 in San Diego.

Their August schedule includes dates in Japan as well as the Carling Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K.

The band is set to release a new, as-yet-untitled album on the first day of the U.S. tour. A press release calls it “another work of pure unadulterated genius so infectious as to be unstoppable without a sucking serum.” Tasty!
