Sonic Nurse
When revered indie rockers Sonic Youth first started releasing albums, most of the members of the bands they’ve inspired were probably still in diapers.
Most of their post-punk contemporaries have long since broken up or burned out, but Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo, Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley (along with recent addition Jim O’Rourke) are still pumping out the albums and, perhaps more importantly, receiving rave reviews for their efforts.
Sonic Nurse, the band’s 19th album, was released this month, and they’re currently supporting it in Australia. When they get home, they’ll jump on board with Lollapalooza and do a series of headline dates on the tour’s off-days, before heading to Europe to make the summer festival rounds.
Earlier this year, the band took time off from the studio to perform a series of shows in March and curate the All Tomorrow’s Parties U.K. festival in April.
