Having wrapped their two-month “turboacoustic” tour of the East in May, Sebadites Lou Barlow and Jason Loewenstein will trudge through the West beginning July 31 in Austin, Texas, at Emo’s. Their one month excursion concludes in California on September 2.

While touring the East, Barlow and Loewenstein used pre-recorded percussion on a cassette four-track machine due to the obvious absence of a drummer.

The band was formed by Barlow in 1988 while he was still playing bass in Dinosaur Jr., and was quickly joined by drummer/songwriter Eric Gaffney. Loewenstein joined shortly thereafter and soon became Barlow’s main co-contributor as Gaffney faded from the picture.

After eight albums, the last being 1999’s The Sebadoh, Barlow and Loewenstein let the project rest, preferring to concentrate separately on solo ventures and various projects. They regrouped last fall for a performance at Domino Records’ 10th anniversary party, which was followed by a handful of shows in Europe.

Although there are is no word of a album in the works, the two are not discounting the possibility. According to his Web site, Barlow is nearly completed with a collection of his work called Loobiecore Vol. II to be in conjunction with Merge records. In 2002, Loewenstein released his solo debut, At Sixes And Sevens.
