This summer and fall, he’ll be back at it. Beginning August 13 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the tour schedule stretches into October and includes a lengthy run in California.

He recently told audiences he’s almost finished with a new album, set for release sometime in 2005.

Prine returned to the road in 1999 after battling cancer. Since then, he’s been gigging steadily, filling theatres across North America. In addition to his regular touring scheme, Prine is also an active participant in the Concerts For A Landmine Free World series.

The singer/songwriter has been cultivating his craft and audience for decades. He was a popular figure on the Chicago folk music scene in the ‘60s when he caught the ear of Kris Kristofferson, who helped him get a record deal.

Since then, a number of high-profile artists have recorded his songs, including the Everly Brothers, Bette Midler, Joan Baez, 10,000 Maniacs, Nanci Griffith, Johnny Cash and Bonnie Raitt.
