Her European dates will continue through July as Smith makes a couple more stops in Deutschland then heads to Switzerland, France and Spain. From EspaƱa, she’ll rock her way to the U.K. and play three shows for the lucky Irish including one in Belfast July 30 at Elmwood Hall.

The socially aware songwriter is touring in support of her April release Trampin’, which is her 10th full-length in 30 years of making music. The disc is Smith’s first for Columbia Records.

After taking a two-week break, she’ll return to her homeland to play two nights in SF at The Fillmore on August 12-13, and finishing up August 27 in San Diego at Street Scene 2004.

Although Smith has been known to take lengthy breaks from her music career to explore other interests – social activism, poetry and child-raising – touring seems to be a major focus at this point in her career. After playing assorted dates for the past two years, this summer’s trek is her largest tour since 2001.
