Founding members Charles Spearin (bass, trumpet), Justin Small (guitar) and James Payment (drums) began experimenting with dub and lounge filters in the ’90s, and were soon joined by keyboardist/drummer Jason MacKenzie, multi-instrumentalist Ohad Benchetrit.

The result has been four albums with titles that would make e.e. cummings proud, like winter hymn country hymn secret hymn and goodbye enemy airship the landlord is dead. The group is signed to Constellation Records, home to a bevy of hot underground bands with equally perplexing names, such as Black Ox Orkestar, re:, and always-cool-yet-often-misunderstood godspeed you black emperor!

Do Make Say Think begins its musical journey September 11th at Ontario’s Guelph Jazz Festival, visits Philadelphia’s First Unitarian Church September 23rd and follows that the next night to New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. Other cities include Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston, San Francisco and Portland, before wrapping at Detroit’s Magic Stick October 23rd.
