“I’m very excited that we have tour dates confirmed,” Moorer says in a statement on her Web site.

Her first stop will be in Lexington, Ky., at The Dome, then she travels to the Windy City to play a show in Chicago’s Abbey Pub July 30th. After a short rest, Moorer will resume her jaunt traveling through several states for a two-week run, finishing in Atlanta at Smith’s Olde Bar August 14th.

Moorer enthusiastically states on her Web site that more shows will be surfacing with Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers in September. She said she’ll do more acoustic dates and “definitely get out west this time …”

Aside from the tour dates, Moorer has recently been nominated for the Artist of the Year award by the Americana Music Association. Fellow nominees include Loretta Lynn, Patti Griffin, and Jim Lauderdale.

The singer’s big break came when “A Soft Place to Fall” – a track written for the soundtrack of the film “The Horse Whisperer” – received rave reviews, also earning her a small appearance in the film.

Since then, she has worked with her Grammy-winning sister, Shelby Lynne, as well as Kid Rock.
