An official statement from the band said, “This will be professionally top notch and not some bullshit pussy tour set up by a bunch of one armed foreign midget retards.” In case you were worried.

The trek begins four days after the release of Pigs Of The Roman Empire, the band’s latest full-length for Mike Patton’s Ipecac label. The album finds the band collaborating with electronic artist Lustmord, who has also done work with Throbbing Gristle.

The tour will wrap at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall October 16, just around the time the Melvins’ next release comes out. Never Breathe What You Can’t See is a collaboration with Jello Biafra and will be released on his Alternative Tentacles label.

Singer/guitarist King Buzzo and drummer Dale Crover still form the core of the Melvins, and bassist Kevin Rutmanis has been with the band for six full years – no mean feat for a group that has been plagued with a revolving door of bass players since its mid-’80s inception.

Trevor Dunn’s Trio Convulsant will be along for all shows on the tour. Dunn is a founding member of Mr. Bungle and plays with Buzzo and Patton in Fantomas, which released its third album earlier this year.
