With album titles like the band’s 1991 debut Slow, Deep and Hard, and their latest 2003 release Life Is Killing Me, fans of the depressed quartet can expect their upcoming tour in October to be somewhere between heaven and hell.

Joining Type O on all 25 dates will be Finnish metal-heads Amorphis, whose new album, Far From The Sun, is slated for a September 7 release in the U.S.

For those who aren’t familiar with Type O Negative’s strangely captivating sound, think of four gothic-looking guys with really long dark locks playing slow-tempo metal, and a beefy 6’6″, 220-pound frontman who named the band after an ad in the phone book, and once appeared in Playgirl as a centerfold. The somewhat bizarre band has toured constantly throughout its career, managing to gather an impressive cult following along the way.

The goth-rockers will focus their tour mainly on the eastern half of the U.S., making October stops in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York City, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

From there, the band will tour through the first two weeks of November with their last show in Sayreville, N.J., at the Starland Ballroom on the 13th.
