How rare is it? The concerts will mark Simon’s first live appearances in almost 10 years – that’s how rare.

The pair will perform duet and solo numbers of a holiday theme, as well as hits from their formidable catalogs. There will be some guest appearances as well, including the ubiquitous Rob Thomas of matchbox twenty, plus family and friends of both stars.

Simon may not have been performing concerts in the last decade, but she’s certainly kept herself busy. She released a greatest-hits package in May and is currently working on a full-length soundtrack for Disney and new music of her own to be released next year.

Gospel star Winans has won four Grammys, 10 Dove Awards and plenty of other hardware in a long career that’s part of a family tradition. In addition to a Christmas release, Winans will release his fourth solo album, Dream, in 2005.

The pair of concerts will benefit the Apollo Theatre Foundation, with tickets ranging from $55 to $300.
