And, boy, did he ever. His virgin cruise was one of the few happy stories of the concert year. His theatre tour this spring sold out in minutes. He returned to the same markets this summer, this time playing arenas and amphitheatres.

“Ten tours down the road, who knows?” Groban told Pollstar. “I think [the fans] wanted this tour for a while, and I wanted this tour for a while, and it’s really kind of a ‘thank you’ for the fans. I think that’s part of the reason why they’re all coming.”

Now he’ll be touring Europe and the U.S. through March. He said he was first hesitant about being on the road, but that’s something he’s obviously adapted to very well.

“I think things are better taken care of if I’m contacted only when I need to be contacted,” he said. “If I’m home it’s, ‘Ah sure, give him a call.'”

Things kick off in Johannesburg, South Africa, November 3. After visiting the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, France and England, Groban returns to start off his U.S. visit in Tampa, Fla., January 25.

Groban is all over the place for the next three months, stopping almost every major market you can think of, plus some of the roads less traveled, such as Sioux City, Iowa, and Rockford, Ill.

His road warrior attitude comes to a temporary close March 19 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Events Center.
