Recording Academy To Honor Achievers

Eddy Arnold, Art Blakey, the Carter Family, Morton Gould, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jelly Roll Morton, Pinetop Perkins, and the Staple Singers will be honored with The Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, to be broadcast February 13th from Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The award honors lifelong artistic contributions to recorded music.

The Academy Trustees Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in a non-performing capacity, will be presented to composer Hoagy Carmichael, “Soul Train” creator Don Cornelius, Blue Note Records co-founder Alfred Lion and jazz artist Dr. Billy Taylor.

Producer Phil Ramone and JBL Professional have been named recipients of the Technical Grammy Award, which recognizes contributions of outstanding technical significance.
