ABC Vets Move On

Jody Wenig and Paul LaMonica – veteran agents of New York’s Associated Booking Corp. – have left the company and formed their own agency, Wenig-LaMonica Associates, in Tarrytown, N.Y.

“Paul and I each had 30 wonderful years at ABC,” Wenig told Pollstar, “and we’ve moved on to open our own agency.”

Many of Wenig and LaMonica’s clients at ABC were non-exclusive and WLA lists approximately 40 clients. Wenig and LaMonica say at least six of the acts will be exclusive.

Lieberman Management confirmed that B.B. King – a longtime client of ABC – is an exclusive client of the new agency, and WLA also lists Anita Baker, Dr. John, Isaac Hayes and Bernie Mac (for concerts).

ABC is one of the oldest music agencies in the U.S. It was founded by Joe Glaser, agent for Billie Holiday, and has been run for decades by Oscar Cohen, who worked for Glaser. ABC prexy David Gambone told Pollstar that nothing has changed at the agency. Many of the artists there are non-exclusive.

WLA can be reached at 914-631-6500 and fax is 914-631-0101. The address is 580 White Plains Road, Suite 130, Tarrytown, N.Y. 10591. LaMonica can be contacted at [email protected] and Wenig at [email protected].
