AEG, Nokia Take Manhattan

AEG and Nokia are working together on another entertainment venue – this one in New York City.

The 2,100-capacity Nokia Theatre Times Square, in the former Loews Movie Theater building, will debut on Broadway this summer. The space is in the midst of a $15 million renovation.

AEG Live, which will oversee the creation and management of the venue, expects to produce more than 150 concerts, awards shows, live broadcasts and special events each year.

The theatre is a further expansion of the relationship between AEG and Nokia, which encompasses the recently announced 7,000-seat Nokia Theatre Los Angeles, the 2,500-seat Club Nokia in L.A. and the 6,000-seat Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie in Texas.

The venues are part of the “Nokia Unwired” marketing platform, which brings live music to fans through concert tours and music-oriented TV programming.
