Sizzla’s Profane Sentence

Dancehall reggae artist Sizzla was sentenced to 15 days in prison February 2nd for swearing during a Christmas Day concert in Jamaica.

Sizzla, whose real name is Miguel Collins, was ordered jailed after he allegedly refused to do community service. His attorneys posted $2,000 bail and are appealing the sentence in Kingston Supreme Court, according to The Jamaican Observer.

The entertainer was arrested December 25th for using a curse word during his set at the East Fest concert in Eastern Jamaica’s St. Thomas parish.

Sizzla, along with peers Beenie Man, Buju Banton and Elephant Man, has been targeted by British gay rights groups who claim the reggae song lyrics promote homophobia and violence. The protests caused some Sizzla concerts in London to be scrapped last year.
