Avril Rocks Junos, Eh?

Avril Lavigne and Diana Krall snagged the most Juno nominations, with five and four respectively, as the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy Awards prepares to honor its finest artists.

Lavigne led the pack with nods for artist of the year, album of the year, best pop album, fan’s choice and best songwriter. One of her producers on Under My Skin, Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida, also earned a nomination.

Krall’s four nominations were followed by a pack with three each: Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Simple Plan, Billy Talent, k-os, Feist, and Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.

Producer Bob Rock, Sum 41, Ron Sexsmith, Marc Jordan, Keisha Chante, Fefe Dobson, and Matt Mays were double nominees.

The best new artist category mingles an eclectic mix of artists; teens Chante and Dobson will go head-to-head against country-rocker Mays, indie torch singer Feist and jazz crooner Matt Dusk.

In addition, The Tragically Hip will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

The Junos will be awarded April 3rd during a concert and ceremony hosted by comedian Brent Butt in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
