John Raitt Dies

Broadway star John Raitt, father of singer Bonnie Raitt, died of complications from pneumonia February 20th at his home in Los Angeles.

Raitt, 88, was best know for his musical stage roles in “Oklahoma” and “Carousel,” and the movie “The Pajama Game.”

The noted baritone spent four decades starring in national tours of classic musicals as well as performing concerts, recording and headlining summer stock productions.

Raitt continued to tour into his 80s with his one-man show, “An Evening With John Raitt,” and appeared with Bonnie on the Boston Pops broadcast and her own concerts.
