HoB San Diego Under Way

House of Blues Entertainment is expected to open the ninth House of Blues club in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter this May. Jim Biafore of House of Blues Anaheim has been named general manager.

The approximately 1,100-capacity club will include a second stage in the restaurant area and several bars. The venue is being built in the former Woolworth building on the city’s Fifth Avenue.

Biafore has already relocated. He is a former owner of various nightclubs, restaurants and retail stores in Las Vegas.

“Jim Biafore is a proven professional who has honed his leadership skills in our organization over the last five years,” HoB Entertainment COO Dolf Berle said. “He is a cultural motivator who believes strongly in giving to the local community and is particularly well suited to lead our team in establishing our venue in vibrant downtown San Diego.”

As is custom to the chain, the HoB venue is expected to hold 350 pieces of original folk art. Another HoB venue in Atlantic City, N.J., is expected to open in July.
