AEG Teams With Beckham

Anschutz Entertainment Group announced it will launch The David Beckham Academy, a youth soccer facility in partnership with the soccer star.

The academy will have two locations, one at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., and one next to the Millennium Dome in London, where AEG is building an arena and entertainment district. The 26,000-seat Dome and surrounding area are part of the city’s 2012 Olympic bid.

The soccer academy will admit 15,000 boys and girls per year, with 10,000 attending for free through various partners. The London location will open this summer and the Los Angeles-area site later this year.
