Saul Holiff Dies

Saul Holiff, a former concert promoter who managed Johnny Cash’s career for 17 years in the 1960s and ‘70s, died at his home in Nanaimo, B.C., March 17th.

His health had been declining in recent years, friends and relatives said.

Holiff, 80, also managed the Statler Brothers and Tommy Hunter.

He left Cash in 1973, thinking the country legend’s career had peaked. Shortly thereafter, he retired from show business and studied at British Columbia’s University of Victoria, earning a bachelor’s degree in history.
