Though it’s been four years since the band’s last release, Doug Martsch & Co. have been making a splash on the road since last September, and their latest round of dates will see them trekking across the country throughout the month of May.

Dates start May 4, with shows throughout the East Coast, South and Great Lakes states, stopping just short of the West Coast with a Salt Lake City gig on the 29th. A July 9 date in Anaheim, Calif., however, hints at a western leg to come.

The band – currently comprising vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Martsch, bassist Brett Nelson and Scott Plouf on drums and percussion – has been playing newer material at recent gigs but still hasn’t given a hint of a release date for its next album.

The last Built To Spill album, Ancient Melodies Of The Future, dropped in 2001. Martsch released a solo effort, Now You Know, in 2002.
