Hedberg Dies On Tour

Comedian Mitch Hedberg, 37, whose comedy style drew comparisons to Jerry Seinfeld and Steven Wright, died of an apparent heart attack March 30th in New Jersey while on tour.

The cause of death was to be determined by autopsy, but his mother, Mary Hedberg, said her son was born with a heart defect that he frequently worried about.

The Minnesota native made a number of appearances on “The Late Show With David Letterman,” Comedy Central and “The Howard Stern Show,” and he recorded two comedy albums.

He co-headlined tours with Stephen Lynch and was a cult favorite on the college circuit.

Hedberg struggled with drugs and alcohol and used those experiences in his act. At the time of his death, he was scheduled to tour through June.
