Clements Treated For Cancer

Fiddle virtuoso Vassar Clements has been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer, which has spread to his liver.

He was recently hospitalized for 18 days where he received chemotherapy and other treatments for the aggressive form of cancer, according to the Tennessean.

“Papa is weak, but he’s lucid,” his daughter, Midge Cranor, told the paper. “He’s upbeat, and he’s still wanting to just keep going and going.”

He was expected to begin a second round of treatments at press time, Cranor said.

Clements has canceled all appearances through June.
