Pontiac Shed Seeks Promoter

The Phoenix Plaza Amphitheatre in Pontiac, Mich., is soliciting bids from promoters to take over booking at the 6,000-seat venue for this summer.

Bruce Zak of the city’s Downtown Development Authority told The Daily Oakland Press that a dozen promoters have been sent requests for bids. The Palace Of Auburn Hills, Olympia Entertainment, Clear Channel Entertainment, Infinity Radio, ABC/Disney and Jon Witz of the city’s Chrysler Arts, Beats and Eats Festival were among those contacted, the paper said.

The DDA planned to handle operational duties itself this summer and then hire a professional promoter for the 2006 season. However, officials decided this summer’s season was too much work for the DDA to handle by itself and that it is not too late to find a promoter for this year.

The shed reopened last fall after a two-year, $22 million renovation.
