“She’s postponing the tour because she’s already six months pregnant,” publicist Sara Soto told Pollstar. “It’s not her image, and she has to take care of the baby.”

The pushed-back dates include stops in Las Vegas; Denver; Glendale and Long Beach Calif.; and Texas gigs in San Antonio, Houston and El Paso.

The announcement came after Trevi’s April 24th concert at San Diego’s 20,000-capacity Coors Amphitheatre, where attendance was reportedly low. Dismal ticket sales in other markets led to show cancellations, according to The Monitor newspaper of South Texas.

The singer was touring to support her comeback album, Como Nace el Universo.

“I want to take care of my new baby, buy clothes for him, enjoy the blessing of this pregnancy for the first time in my life, and share these wonderful moments with my son, Angel,” Trevi said in a statement.

The performer was released from a Mexican prison in September after being acquitted on rape, kidnapping and corruption charges. She and backup singers Maria Raquenel Portillo and Marlene Calderon were accused of recruiting young girls on behalf of Trevi’s manager/ex-husband, Sergio Andrade, for live-in music training that included sex.

Trevi and Andrade fled the country when the accusations arose in 1997. In January 2000, the two, along with others, were arrested in Brazil.

While in a Brazilian prison, Trevi conceived a child, claiming she had been raped by prison guards. DNA tests determined Andrade was the father, but Trevi’s lawyers claimed the DNA results were altered.

The pop diva missed her April 8th tour kickoff at Hidalgo, Texas’ Dodge Arena because of a flight delay from Mexico City. Reports suggested she was having trouble getting a visa due to the much-publicized charges.

“Trevolution” is scheduled to resume October 15th in Phoenix. The second leg of the tour will travel through Mexico, the U.S., and Central and South America. No dates were confirmed at press time.
