Tampa Noise Dispute Looms

Reps from Tampa, Fla.’s 20,000-capacity Ford Amphitheatre will head back to court in late August over noise disputes filed by the Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission.

A hearing on a temporary injunction was postponed in February. The EPC is suing venue owner Clear Channel Entertainment and the Florida State Fair Authority for noise violations during concerts.

The commission wants performances stopped until the venue can assure it will operate within the EPC’s sound regulations.

Before the reported August 29-31 court dates, as many as 11 concerts are scheduled at the shed.

CCE has argued the noise ordinance is too vague.
