Fat Tone Found Dead

Las Vegas police are investigating the May 23rd shooting deaths of Missouri rapper Fat Tone and another man after their bodies were found at a tract housing construction site.

Fat Tone, whose real name is Anthony Watkins, and Jermaine Akins were discovered by a security guard when he noticed a car parked with its lights on at the site. One man was found inside the car and the other was lying on the ground, police said.

Watkins died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office. The cause of death for Atkins is unknown, pending an autopsy.

Watkins was considered a person of interest but not a suspect in the drive-by shooting death of Anthony Hicks, also known as Bay Area rapper Mac Dre, last November in Kansas City. Hicks was in the city for a series of concerts when he was shot and killed.

Las Vegas police executed a search warrant May 24th at a home where rap promoter Andre “Mac Minister” Dow, and two others had stayed. The three reportedly have ties to the Bay Area and Mac Dre but are not considered suspects, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Detectives are reportedly looking at the possibility the deaths were part of an alleged Midwest-West Coast rap feud.

Meanwhile, a burned car discovered in Vallejo, Calif., is reportedly connected to Watkins’ death, according to the Vallejo Times-Herald.

Fire inspector Bill Tweedy told the paper that Vallejo police ran the charred Pontiac Sunfire’s license plate and found their Las Vegas counterparts were looking for the vehicle.
