Cassidy Facing Murder Charge

Philadelphia rapper Cassidy surrendered to police June 17th for his alleged involvement in an April 15th drive-by shooting that left one man dead and two others injured.

A police spokesman said Cassidy, aka Barry Reese, faces charges of murder, aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment, weapons offenses and related counts.

Reese and two other men allegedly shot up a vehicle parked in a driveway in the rapper’s neighborhood. One of three men inside the car, Desmond Hawkins, was killed and two others were seriously injured. A motive for the shooting was unclear, but Hawkins and Reese argued earlier in the day, according to police.

Lawyer Michael Giampietro was quoted as saying Reese had nothing to do with the incident and the evidence will prove that.

The charges against the 22-year-old performer come as his latest album released by J Records / RCA , I’m A Hustla, is scheduled to drop June 28th.
